Srijan gets listed among WorldBlu's Most Democratic Workplaces 2010

1 Jun 13, 2010

We are pleased to inform you that Srijan Technologies has been listed among the world's most democratic workplaces for the second consecutive year. WorldBlu Democratic Workplaces 2010

Organizational democracy is based on freedom, instead of fear and control. It’s a way of designing organizations to amplify the possibilities of human potential — and the organization as a whole. We believe that allowing people to speak their minds and voice their opinions in a way that can affect decision making actually makes people more responsible for what they say and as a result, the consequences of what they say.

We also make better applications; Srijan has deep expertise in implementing Content Management Systems, and have built large portals like www.openthemagazine.com. (Case Study - http://drupal.org/node/629664)

We design and build business applications, intranets, portals, and corporate websites using open source software

  • Products and frameworks we use - Drupal, TYPO3 , Magento, Zend, Django
  • We setup and manage Linux servers which run these applications

As “IT software companies” go Srijan is probably an odd ball. Out here, common good emerges from the ground up; not doled out from above. The road to democracy is a long one, and always looks incomplete; due to its very nature, of constant change. And not everyone has the stamina or is willing to 'experiment' with a subtle concept like democracy, more so in the 'software industry' where growth is measured solely in terms of money. Those of us who do stick on find that our lot is growing and the chaos does indeed yield beauty; trite as that might sound. To us at Srijan, being listed among the most democratic companies in the world is an affirmation of our ideas. It also makes us feel a little less lonely on this road to making our world a little better than we found it.
